Online Diets for Men

Dana Prince asked:

Are more online diets coming out geared to males? In January of every year there’s an onslaught of gym memberships signed up for and exercise equipment bought.  These tend to happen with men and with women equally. January is a huge month for diet programs as well with post-holiday eating over with and summer weather (meaning more skin showing) on the horizon.  This year is so far seeing an increase in men purchasing online diet plans.

For many women who surf the net they’re happy to get information for their dieting needs from websites, newsletters and blogs. This is now increasing for men as well. Many online sites catered to women in the past but nowadays, it’s apparent that men are also interested in using the internet to help with getting fitter and leaner because many new resources are either unisex or catering to men specifically.

People are more health conscious than ever and websites are taking notice and ensuring they cater to male and female audiences. They offer online menu generators, fitness routines, information on supplements and downloadable diet and exercise information books.

Online Diets for Men

There are a lot of online diets that are geared for women.  The Flat Belly Diet is one that’s more often chosen by women because it’s sponsored by Prevention Magazine which has a largely female audience.  Men can do the diet too but more women gravitate toward it because the magazine leans toward a female demographic.

The Idiot Proof Diet is geared to men and women equally. Their website targets the ideal male and female body and appeals to people who want to lose weight fast by tricking their metabolism but who don’t really have plans to exercise. The calorie shifting diet fools the body so that it doesn’t plateau and it provides an online menu plan generator telling you exactly what you need to eat. (There’s a journal on this website  outlining the 11 day plan day by day)

Burn the Fat, Feed the Muscle is one diet that’s geared to men more than women because of the muscle aspect.  Women can do this too, of course males looking at online diets often tend to gravitate towards this one.

Turbulence Training: This one is geared for anyone with a lot of exercise plans designed to build muscle while simultaneously burning fat but it seems to be especially for men. It even comes with a bonus book: 20 Minute Workouts for the World’s Busiest Dads

If you’re a male looking for an online diet and / or online exercise program you’ll find a fair number of sites geared to females but that doesn’t mean you can’t do those diets. You’ll also see that there are a large number of new online resources for men’s health, wellness, dieting and fitness as well.

Nj Fitness Expert Discusses Diet Plateaus

arnel ricafranca asked:

Many people who diet, often reach what is called a diet plateau. That is when dieting stops resulting in weight loss. If you want to prevent this, the answer is to constantly change your diet and/or workout routine.

You probably noticed that when you first start a diet, you loose weight pretty quickly. However, after a short period of time, weight loss will slow down and/or stop completely. This is because your body’s response to weight loss slows down. Your body thinks weight loss is bad and your body will try to stop it or prevent it.

Three main activities control your metabolism.

The thermic effect of food is one activity which takes place. That is the energy used for digestion and absorption of the food you eat. More calories will be used depending on the amount you eat.

Physical activity is number two and a very important factor. You have the biggest control over this area. Physical activity doesn’t always mean working out. It means all the physical work and exercise that you do in one day, such as walking, running and moving around.

The third and biggest contributor to calorie expenditure is what is called Basal metabolic rate (BMR). BMR is the energy that is used for many functions in the body, also including the calories burned by the liver and kidneys.

When you reduce your food intake, the calories you burn while digesting and absorbing the food is decreased along with our BMR. Your BMR will adjust it according to your calorie intake. If you reduce the amount you eat, your BMR will be decreased resulting in burning fewer calories. This will slow or sometimes stop your ability to lose weight altogether.

If you can afford it, you should cut more calories to lose more weight. Try not to go under 1200 calories each day. Anything under that will make it hard for your body to get the vitamins and minerals your body needs on a daily basis. So a better idea is to offset the decrease in BMR by increasing your daily physical activity.

In conclusion, a diet will always change for a number of reasons. The biggest reasons being limited physical activity, age, foods you eat and your goals. Simply monitoring these factors will result in a more successful diet without leaving you on that dreaded plateau.

Alan Chai asked:

Are you looking to lose that excess weight or just been thinking about this subject? This is not something that you should undertake lightly or without some serious planning first. If you are going to get involved in any of the popular weight loss diets currently out there, you need to look for 3 key things that will help you take off that excess weight and learn how to keep it off  permanently; A Good Support System, Sensible Eating Plan and Easy To Follow Exercise Plans. You want you be very sure that any program is not a fad diet that will create a problem

A Good Support System

What this refers to is that you always have someone or a group of people to talk to in the process of your weight loss when involved with any of the weight loss diets out there. There is nothing worse that reaching a plateau in your weight loss and having absolutely no one that you can call for support or guidance. Mind you, there are some diets out there that really leave you all by yourself to do this. This is not the best way to go about this.

Sensible, Healthy Eating Plan

This is also of the utmost importance! If you are not eating a healthy, properly balanced diet currently; this may take you completely by surprise. Most of the weight loss diets available today have taken many different factors into consideration when they design or suggest a sensible and healthy eating pattern. The main things to remember are: to eat several small (instead of 3 large) meals, making sure that you add good healthy snacks throughout the day and… this may sound strange… satisfy those food cravings.  You usually crave certain foods because there is something in that food that your body needs.

Good Exercise Plans

This is a third component of some of the best weight loss diets that will help you to not only take off the extra weight, but also keep it off once you have reached your target weight. Some of the best exercise plans are customized to each person’s fitness level and personal needs. This is the best possible way to make sure that you will not be trying to get into an exercise program that is totally out of your league; be it too difficult or too easy. This is a sure-fire way that you will give up very easily!

Watch Out For Fad Diets

This is the one area that you really have to be extremely careful about when it comes to weight loss diets; the programs and diet systems that sound too good to be true. They usually are too good to be true; and actually turn out to be Very Dangerous in the long run to you. The main things to look out for are outrageous claims about the amount of weight lost in a week and no need to watch how you eat or no exercise necessary.
