The Truth About Arthritis Diets and Weight Loss

Are you one of the thousands upon thousands of folks, which wake up each and every morning, with every joint in your body radiating pain? Is arthritis kicking your butt, with pain, through out your day? Do you miss being able to pick up your grandkids because of the arthritis pain?

If you answered yes, to any of the above questions, you should read on to learn how arthritis diets and weight loss; can help bring relief to your aching body.

This article is not intended as medical advice, nor should it be taken as medical advice. It is for informational purposes only. As always with a physical illness you should consult with your personal physician right away. Now back to your information.

Arthritis diets have an ultimate aim of assisting your body in the management of this degenerative disease. Your doctor will advise you, early in the diagnosis period of arthritis, about which foods should be avoided and which should be increased in the diet.

You, as an arthritis sufferer, should be prepared to plan your meals regularly, but allow some sort of flexibility when dining out. Keeping in mind that swaying from the diet at times is ok, as long as it doesn’t happen too often. This way you will be able to enjoy a normal life without too many restrictions as far as your food intake is concerned.

Some foods that are known to assist with arthritis symptoms include:

• Dairy foods for calcium - This includes yogurt and milk and not so much chocolate and ice cream. Yogurt is also good for general digestive health.

• Fruits and vegetables - These are recommended for everyone regardless of whether you have arthritis, are overweight or not. But they can also assist you as they                   provide healthy energy, weight loss and strong bones and muscles.

• Starchy foods - It has been noted that some starchy foods like potatoes may assist with arthritis symptoms

In addition to the above diet tips, consider other changes to your lifestyle to assist in coping with arthritis.

This includes losing weight (if you are overweight). Even the loss of a few pounds can help relieve pressure on your joints and other bones. Prior to undertaking a major weight loss, be sure and consult with your doctor.

While you’re checking with your health professional, you should ask them about increasing your calcium intake with supplements. Your obvious benefit will be stronger bones and joints. Furthermore, because you will be feeling better, have more energy and strength; you will become more active.

As an arthritis sufferer and possibly overweight you can also get some relief and lose weight while doing light resistance weight training. Tests have shown that resistance weight training is good for the overall health of the body. Don’t worry! This doesn’t mean it has to be expensive or difficult.

You as an arthritis sufferer, must educate yourself as to what‘s right for you. You know your body and your own mind. You know what you can do and not do. Therefore, you’re the one, which can make the life changing decisions, such as weight loss and a healthy diet, necessary to ease the daily pain in your joints and bones.

Some of the things you have learned in this article will help make your life a little more comfortable. By eating the right foods, not only will you reduce your pain and suffering, you stand a good chance of losing those extra pounds, if you need to. Arthritis diets need not be restrictive. They are simply designed to help people cope with a disease that can so often become much worse if an ideal diet is not undertaken

Weight Loss Questions? Diet Soda, To Much Salt.?

im 19, male, weigh 299 pounds. i was 315 two weeks ago. i have basically stopped eating and lost 5 of the 16 pounds in the last two days. questions - i eat beef jerky and g2 gatorade, both high in salt. does this effect weight loss. 2nd question - eat use to drink a 2 liter bottle of soda ( regular, not diet ) a day. i went from that to 3 cans of diet. what is the truth about diet soda? thanks to all.

If you eat things too high in salts, it can cause your body to retain water, which can cause bloating, and over all an increase in weight, but from the water not fat.

And diet soda ? In my opinion it is one of the best things to drink. I could be completely wrong though. I would say it's good from personal experience, I went a week only drinking diet soda, and I lost 10 lbs, and I only weighed 130 lbs to begin with.

@webkinz333 depends on your height first, not all about pounds. someone 6 ft at 110 would be skin and bones, someone 4 ft would look about average. just get excercise and eat healthy food. You are at an age where the body will go through changes anyways. Keep yourself healthy, and don’t worry about weight..

One qualm, he says that three meals a day is a good idea. And it is in contrast to 2 meals or 1 meal, but the more frequently someone eats, the faster the metabolism will become. When the body knows that it has a constant supply of food and always will, it won’t feel the need to store fat.

6 smaller meals a day and exercise in between, even if it’s as little as 10 minutes will help keep the weight off. When you’re constantly eating and constantly exercising, your body is burning the calories.

I have been a natural bodybuilder for 5 years, and bodybuilders have always been ahead of the general concensus for diet. Complex carbs, lean meats, vegies, fruits and healthy fats should be incorporated in every meal. But even if you dont eat healthy, if you take in less calories then you burn you will loose fat period. It comes down to calories in calories out. eating every few hours should be a staple. And resistance training is key, the more muscle you have the greater calories you can burn.

another myth is if you eat at night it turns into fat. Well thiers not much a a difference in metabolism when your sleeping, or at your office sitting down at a desk. Even excersice itself does not burn alot of calories, walking for an hour only burns a few hundred calories. So your metabolism does not slow down THAT much when you sleep. IT still comes down to calories in calories out like a bank manager with numbers. I eat a huge meal every night and i get leaner when i watch my calories.

also a calorie deficit of 300 to 500 is perfect for wieght loss. Also for those people wondering can you build muscle taking it less calories. YES you can because the body will suppliment the difference from your body fat. Only in extreme athletes like bodybuidlers going for competition when thier already soo lean its hard to maximize muscle and maximize fat loss without sactificing muscle. But for the average person 300-500 calorie deficit is great for loosing fat AND gaining muscle. good luck

In the last 3 months, I’ve lost 30 pounds.

I went to a weight loss hypnotist, and he implanted “reminders” in my mind.

I haven’t had cake, cookies, soda, pizza, bagels, chinese take-out, pasta, chocolates, sausages, or any kind of processed food since Election Day.

I attribute my amazing weight loss to giving up processed food and doing all my own cooking.

i would not eat the peanut butter just because it is so high in calories and fat and that its hard to control portions. eat a non fat yogurt instead because it is your protein source. i reccomend light and fit brand :)
