Atkins Diet Quick Hits: Are all sugars eliminated?
The atkins diet can't be healthy or can it?
A buddy of mine has been on this atkins diet for some time and he's lost quite a few pounds... But I was thinking it possibly couldn't be healthy I mean all you eat is meat and cheese.. How does it work? And is it healthy for your body? I also read somehwere that the actual dr. Atkins died from a heart attack but it didn't say whether from this diet.. I'm just curious about how it all works
Actually, if done properly it is VERY healthy.
It's a myth that all you eat is meat and cheese. Actually, cheese should only be eaten in moderation. Vegetables are a very important part of Atkins. Depending on your carb tolerance you also add nuts, fruit, dairy and even some grain as you progress. It is a REAL food diet. But you need to read the book to make sure you are doing it properly. Too many people go on what they THINK the diet is (meat and cheese) and then complain that it doesn't work.
Dr Atkins did NOT die of a heart attack, he slipped and hit his head on the ice. I hope when I'm 72 I'm still able to walk to work every day, as he was doing.
