Sasha Carrion, Cht asked:
Have you tried to lose weight in the past but failed? You may have been fighting yourself to do it. I’ll explain.

There are two main parts to our mind: the conscious and the subconscious. The conscious part of you wants to lose weight and look good this upcoming season. Meanwhile, the subconscious wants you to continue to eat all the foods that make you feel comfortable and happy. Unfortunately for you, those tend to be composed of sugar and carbohydrates which only make your waist line grow. In a scenario like this one, the person ends up yo-yo-dieting because their “Will Power” can only last so long – literally. Will Power only gives you a short burst of energy. Once it’s gone. It’s just gone. The only thing left behind is your emotional stress and frustration which can lead to a vicious cycle of weight rebounding.

That is the reason why the problem of losing weight needs to be tackled at the source of where the mental conflict is – in your subconscious. The subconscious is where all your habits and patterns lie such as not eating healthy, not liking to exercise and drinking only soda. Once you get this part of your mind in sink with your goals, change becomes easy because you’re no longer fighting with yourself.

Hypnosis Has Been Scientifically Proven To Work For Weight Loss.

Setting your mind to lose weight and motivating yourself to enjoy healthy habits is possible with Hypnosis. A significant number of studies (several of which are listed below), have demonstrated that adding hypnosis to a weight loss program significantly increases its success.

A 1996 study conducted at the University of Connecticut published in the Journal of Consulting and Clinical Psychology found that, on average, people who used Hypnosis were able to lose 2.5 times more weight than a person not using Hypnosis. The authors went a step further by stating, “The correlation analysis indicated that the benefits of Hypnosis increased substantially over time.”

As someone who previously battled with keeping extra pounds off, I know that you need to have the correct frame of mind in order to be successful. You may have experienced occasions when you’ve dieted and exercised but then your will power wore off. In the end, you slipped back to your old patterns and rebounded in weight. This continuous vicious cycle affects you not just physically but emotionally because as your self-esteem spirals downwards you start to overeat; you start eating calorie laden comfort foods again and you get stuck in the same pattern.

This scenario happens to countless of Americans who fuel the diet industry with their purchases of diet pills and other fads in hope of achieving their weight loss goals. The problem, however, is that the more you rebound, the more you set yourself up for failure for the next time you try to diet.

In reality, the perfect equation for most people to lose weight is simple. It’s:

Weight Loss = The Right Mind Set + Healthy Eating + Exercise

That’s it. In life as in science, the simplest answer is often the correct answer.

Hypnosis can help you achieve the right state of mind by “cleaning up the mental clutter” that prevents you from holding a determined course to lose weight and live a healthier lifestyle. It gives you the ability to naturally chose to eat healthy foods, to want to exercise and to be focused on achieving your weight loss goals. For some, it’s as simple as one session, while others see benefit from a series of sessions.

In a research article titled, Hypnotherapy in weight loss treatment, a group of researchers found that in a test group of 60 participants, those that did not use Hypnosis only lost .5 lbs while the group using Hypnosis lost 17lbs. Why? Because the people who had access to Hypnosis sessions were able to achieve that weight loss combination that eludes most people today.

More proof of the ability of Hypnosis to boost a person’s weight loss was shown in January of 2004, when Dateline aired “Losing it: Dateline ultimate diet challenge.” The show compared some of the most well known methods known to losing weight including the Atkin’s diet, Slim Fast, Weight Watchers, extreme exercise with calorie restrictions, working with a diet coach and Hypnosis.

The top two weight loss techniques that worked were Hypnosis and the Atkins diet. Unfortunately for the man who used the Atkin’s diet (Rick Burns), while he lost weight, he also became sick. “Rick developed a painful case of gout, a condition he’d had before, that he suspected was a result of the diet.” His diet had to be modified.

Marc Merlis, the man who did Hypnosis along with exercising and eating healthy continued to happily lose weight.

“After three months under Hypnosis, his wife had a nickname for him. Incredibly, “droopy drawers” had lost the most so far, a staggering 40 pounds. That’s when droopy’s wife got in on the action. She went to the hypnotist to quit smoking. And guess what? Smoke free, fat free. Five months in, for the Merlis’s things couldn’t be better. And at their son’s bar mitzvah this May, lifting Marc was a piece of cake.”

As long as Marc continued his Hypnosis routine, he was able to continue his path of losing weight. One of the things that I noticed about this weight loss challenge was how much the other contestants suffered by the calorie restrictions that they had to undergo. It’s hard to focus if you feel that you are starving. Hypnosis helps program your mind to think thin – this includes wanting to exercise and wanting to eat healthy so you’re not constantly struggling about what choices you have to make. An added plus to Hypnosis is that it helps you control your stress levels. This in turn helps you to lose weight.

Even highly respected consumer advocate John Stossel of ABC’s 20/20, who is known for debunking fraudulent claims, agrees that Hypnosis is no sham. In his best-selling book, “Myths, Lies and Downright Stupidty”, he makes a bold take on Hypnosis:

“Just when my skeptic’s antennae convince me I always know bunk when I see it, I get fooled. I assumed hypnosis in medicine was one more con game… “Hypnotherapy will help you lose weight!” C’mon, if it worked, there wouldn’t be all those overweight people around. Truth: Hypnosis works — if you let it!”

Smokers can also reap the benefits of Hypnosis for weight loss. A two-fold study stated that both nonsmokers and smokers alike experienced significant weight loss as well as decline in their Body Mass Index compared to the group who did not practice Hypnosis. In fact, the group who used Hypnosis continued to show lower post treatment weights. Non-invasive and relaxing, Hypnosis makes achieving your goals easy.

Hypnosis simply allows you to have better motivation and self control as well as a positive emotional association with your diet and exercise. You don’t just lose weight, you gain control of your own life, so that you can go out there and achieve all the other things that are on your list of goals.

Abhishek Agarwal asked:

Assortment is the initial ingredient to the dough. Various selections of food will allow a wide range of nutrient and vitamin intake. A diverse diet of fruits and milk in the morning, vegetables and protein at lunch time, and a light dinner will cater to the improvement of the mother’s health and the growing fetus as well. Eating the same set of menu for a whole week is no fun. The taste buds will get bored of the same old dish and may even let you lose your appetite.

Balance is next on the list. Anything taken or done in moderation is good for the total being of a person and even more to a pregnant woman. A little bit of everything is good enough to fill the tummy with the needed nutrients to support the growing baby and to control the weight of the mother as well. It is important to note that kind of food taken by the mother comes from the three basic food groups namely the GO food, GROW food, and GLOW food. Go food mainly provides energy such as carbohydrates, Grow food caters to the growth of cells in the body and Glow food constitute the various nutrients and vitamins. The right mixture of these three would eventually bring about a balanced diet.

Third on the row is Color. A rainbow is more appealing to look at than just the empty blue sky. A colorful plate of food would stimulate the mind to have a good sumptuous appetite. Color makes the food look tastier as it is seen on food magazines and actual plate preparations. So it is nice to note that color makes the world wonderful as it will make your appetite wonderfully great. As you prepare your food, make it as colorful as possible by putting green steamed broccoli, with succulent fish in tomato sauce and yellow baked potatoes on the side.

Weight loss is out of the picture for a pregnant woman. Contrary to that, pregnancy is the period where moderate weight gain is encouraged for the eventual growth and development of the fetus that is living inside the mother’s womb. When the ideal weight gain is not achieved per month, the baby is being put at risk and so is the mother since it could result to malnutrition.

Food experimentation is common among pregnant women. It brings about new discoveries with regards to food preference. Sometimes, it even results to rejection of certain all-time favorite foods such as ice cream and the acceptance of the despicable ones like raw oysters maybe. And in extreme cases, sometimes the pregnant mother goes into craving for some non-nutritive substances like clay and chalk. When this happens, it is advisable to suggest and offer food that are rich in iron content.

Engaging in the act of eating is a great and fun thing. It is encouraged to take time when eating by savoring each bite as you chew in the food. You allow the taste to be relished plus by trying not to swallow it all at once, heartburn is being prevented. In the case of a pregnant mother, two mouths are being fed. Eating habits should therefore be geared towards a balanced nourishment of the physiologic make-up of both the mother and the growing baby inside the womb.

ABC OF BREASTFEEDING

rainheart asked:

From the first moment the infant is applied to the breast, it must be nursed upon a certain plan. This is necessary to the well-doing of the child, and will contribute essentially to preserve the health of the parent, who will thus be rendered a good nurse, and her duty at the same time will become a pleasure.

This implies, however, a careful attention on the part of the mother to her own health; for that of her child is essentially dependent upon it. Healthy, nourishing, and digestible milk can be procured only from a healthy parent; and it is against common sense to expect that, if a mother impairs her health and digestion by improper diet, neglect of exercise, and impure air, she can, nevertheless, provide as wholesome and uncontaminated a fluid for her child, as if she were diligently attentive to these important points. Every instance of indisposition in the nurse is liable to affect the infant.

And this leads me to observe, that it is a common mistake to suppose that, because a woman is nursing, she ought therefore to live very fully, and to add an allowance of wine, porter, or other fermented liquor, to her usual diet. The only result of this plan is, to cause an unnatural degree of fulness in the system, which places the nurse on the brink of disease, and which of itself frequently puts a stop to the secretion of the milk, instead of increasing it. The right plan of proceeding is plain enough; only let attention be paid to the ordinary laws of health, and the mother, if she have a sound constitution, will make a better nurse than by any foolish deviation founded on ignorance and caprice.

The following case proves the correctness of this statement:

A young lady, confined with her first child, left the lying-in room at the expiration of the third week, a good nurse, and in perfect health. She had had some slight trouble with her nipples, but this was soon overcome.

The porter system was now commenced, and from a pint to a pint and a half of this beverage was taken in the four and twenty hours. This was resorted to, not because there was any deficiency in the supply of milk, for it was ample, and the infant thriving upon it; but because, having become a nurse, she was told that it was usual and necessary, and that without it her milk and strength would ere long fail.

After this plan had been followed for a few days, the mother became drowsy and disposed to sleep in the daytime; and headach, thirst, a hot skin, in fact, fever supervened; the milk diminished in quantity, and, for the first time, the stomach and bowels of the infant became disordered. The porter was ordered to be left off; remedial measures were prescribed; and all symptoms, both in parent and child, were after a while removed, and health restored.

Having been accustomed, prior to becoming a mother, to take a glass or two of wine, and occasionally a tumbler of table beer, she was advised to follow precisely her former dietetic plan, but with the addition of half a pint of barley-milk morning and night. Both parent and child continued in excellent health during the remaining period of suckling, and the latter did not taste artificial food until the ninth month, the parent’s milk being all-sufficient for its wants.

No one can doubt that the porter was in this case the source of the mischief. The patient had gone into the lying-in-room in full health, had had a good time, and came out from her chamber (comparatively) as strong as she entered it. Her constitution had not been previously worn down by repeated child-bearing and nursing, she had an ample supply of milk, and was fully capable, therefore, of performing the duties which now devolved upon her, without resorting to any unusual stimulant or support. Her previous habits were totally at variance with the plan which was adopted; her system became too full, disease was produced, and the result experienced was nothing more than what might be expected.

The plan to be followed for the first six months. Until the breast- milk is fully established, which may not be until the second or third day subsequent to delivery (almost invariably so in a first confinement), the infant must be fed upon a little thin gruel, or upon one third water and two thirds milk, sweetened with loaf sugar.

After this time it must obtain its nourishment from the ****** alone, and for a week or ten days the appetite of the infant must be the mother’s guide, as to the frequency in offering the ******. The stomach at birth is feeble, and as yet unaccustomed to food; its wants, therefore, are easily satisfied, but they are frequently renewed. An interval, however, sufficient for digesting the little swallowed, is obtained before the appetite again revives, and a fresh supply is demanded.

At the expiration of a week or so it is essentially necessary, and with some children this may be done with safety from the first day of suckling, to nurse the infant at regular intervals of three or four hours, day and night. This allows sufficient time for each meal to be digested, and tends to keep the bowels of the child in order. Such regularity, moreover, will do much to obviate fretfulness, and that constant cry, which seems as if it could be allayed only by constantly putting the child to the ******. A young mother very frequently runs into a serious error in this particular, considering every expression of uneasiness as an indication of appetite, and whenever the infant cries offering it the breast, although ten minutes may not have elapsed since its last meal. This is an injurious and even dangerous practice, for, by overloading the stomach, the food remains undigested, the child’s bowels are always out of order, it soon becomes restless and feverish, and is, perhaps, eventually lost; when, by simply attending to the above rules of nursing, the infant might have become healthy and vigorous.

For the same reason, the infant that sleeps with its parent must not be allowed to have the ****** remaining in its mouth all night. If nursed as suggested, it will be found to awaken, as the hour for its meal approaches, with great regularity. In reference to night-nursing, I would suggest suckling the **** as late as ten o’clock p. m., and not putting it to the ****** again until five o’clock the next morning. Many mothers have adopted this hint, with great advantage to their own health, and without the slightest detriment to that of the child. With the latter it soon becomes a habit; to induce it, however, it must be taught early.

The foregoing plan, and without variation, must be pursued to the sixth month.

After the sixth month to the time of weaning, if the parent has a large supply of good and nourishing milk, and her child is healthy and evidently flourishing upon it, no change in its diet ought to be made. If otherwise, however, (and this will but too frequently be the case, even before the sixth month) the child may be fed twice in the course of the day, and that kind of food chosen which, after a little trial, is found to agree best.

Nj Fitness Expert Discusses Diet Plateaus

arnel ricafranca asked:

Many people who diet, often reach what is called a diet plateau. That is when dieting stops resulting in weight loss. If you want to prevent this, the answer is to constantly change your diet and/or workout routine.

You probably noticed that when you first start a diet, you loose weight pretty quickly. However, after a short period of time, weight loss will slow down and/or stop completely. This is because your body’s response to weight loss slows down. Your body thinks weight loss is bad and your body will try to stop it or prevent it.

Three main activities control your metabolism.

The thermic effect of food is one activity which takes place. That is the energy used for digestion and absorption of the food you eat. More calories will be used depending on the amount you eat.

Physical activity is number two and a very important factor. You have the biggest control over this area. Physical activity doesn’t always mean working out. It means all the physical work and exercise that you do in one day, such as walking, running and moving around.

The third and biggest contributor to calorie expenditure is what is called Basal metabolic rate (BMR). BMR is the energy that is used for many functions in the body, also including the calories burned by the liver and kidneys.

When you reduce your food intake, the calories you burn while digesting and absorbing the food is decreased along with our BMR. Your BMR will adjust it according to your calorie intake. If you reduce the amount you eat, your BMR will be decreased resulting in burning fewer calories. This will slow or sometimes stop your ability to lose weight altogether.

If you can afford it, you should cut more calories to lose more weight. Try not to go under 1200 calories each day. Anything under that will make it hard for your body to get the vitamins and minerals your body needs on a daily basis. So a better idea is to offset the decrease in BMR by increasing your daily physical activity.

In conclusion, a diet will always change for a number of reasons. The biggest reasons being limited physical activity, age, foods you eat and your goals. Simply monitoring these factors will result in a more successful diet without leaving you on that dreaded plateau.

ABC Guide to Avoiding Childhood Obesity

Mark Goeder-tarant asked:

Childhood obesity has become a major health epidemic, with approximately 15% of children considered to be obese the world over. The main reason for the childhood obesity epidemic is a shift in eating habits, away from fresh food, whole grains and vegetables to convenience food high in fat, sugar and additives. Another major factor is a decline in activity for both children and adults, who now spend more time in sedentary activities like watching TV and playing computer games that participating in exercise.

In addition, children who have obese or overweight parents have a high risk of becoming obese themselves as a result of poor family eating habits and unhealthy food choices. Parents today are spending less time with their kids and giving less parental advice about healthy food and activity choices. In the USA, UK and Australia 25% of children are considered overweight or obese. The health risks associated with obesity in childhood are great including low self esteem, depression, hormonal imbalances, diabetes and joint problems.

Worse still, the obese child who remains overweight into adulthood has the potential to develop more serious health risks later in their life, including arthritis, stroke and heart attack, high blood pressure, diabetes, and bowel cancer.

Fast food marketing giants spending billions of dollars in advertising to target children and teens, selling them cheap and high-calorie low nutrition value foods, such as crisps, soft drink, hamburgers and confectionery, coupled with lack of control of parents, is the major cause of incorrect eating habits and obesity.

Research shows that even drinking soft drink or soda regularly increases a child’s chance of becoming overweight or obese by 60%. Worse still, even moderate exercise is no longer a regular daily activity for children and teens. Most children do not play any sport or even walk or cycle to school. This is compounded by the fact that busy parents have less time than ever to supervise their children and take them out to play in local parks or on the street.

A fear of stranger danger and abduction has added to the value of allowing kids to watch TV or play computer games rather than be outside without parental supervision.

Doctors and nutritionists recommend that most overweight children should be encouraged to lose weight through long lasting positive lifestyle changes in eating habits and activity, rather than be put on a weight-loss diet. It is better that children begin to moderate unhealthy choices, eat smaller portion sizes, and begin moderate exercise three to four days a week for thirty to forty five minutes, building on this over a longer period rather than staging a crash course diet.

The main parenting strategies aim to encourage children to gradually change their (1) eating habits towards well-balanced, healthy, varieties of freshly cooked and nutritious foods, with plenty of fresh fruit and vegetables, and introducing more healthy recipes and nutritious lunch box ideas; (2) become more active , and (3) monitor their own progress and weight loss – until they are able to achieve and maintain a healthy weight. It is often easier to facilitate a change in habits for children compared to adults. Importantly, parents need to talk to their ids and provide healthy choices at home, and healthy lunch box offerings for school.

For parents needing support, internet Parent ’s Forums and Parenting Blogs offer support and community exchange of ideas and tips to help address issues relating to childhood obesity. Other advice includes getting kids involved in shopping and meal preparation to help teach them better nutrition and food choice, and assigning chores as another way to get kids up and active.

Avoid stocking high-fat, high-sugar snack in home, provide fruit and healthy alternatives like fat free pretzels and popcorn. Dilute fruit juice and avoid soft drinks, water is always best. Try to make good choices when going out for dinner, and avoid using food as a reward/comfort. Instead, give kids the attention they deserve by listening, providing encouraging words and hugs and treating the family out to the cinema or local bowling alley to celebrate small successes.

Physical inactivity includes pastimes such as watching TV or playing computer games, should be reduced to no more than two hours a day. Gradual increase in physical activity, such as walking, bike riding, swimming, dancing and ball sports is suggested three to four times a week to begin. Importantly, remember the time you spend together as a family being active is also a great way to reconnect and bond and should be a fun experience for all new fitness plan can mean a whole lot more than simply losing weight.

Six Pack Abs Expert Explains Diet Scams

arnel ricafranca asked:

Everyone knows it, you can’t avoid it. Everywhere you look you see weight loss headlines that say things such as “lose 30 lbs in 30 days” or “get fit fast with these diet pills” or lose 20 lbs while eating whatever you want.” There is one word that sums up what these types of headlines these are…..SCAMS. You should not believe an ad that tells you that you can lose weight in a short amount of time. Especially if they tell you that you don’t have to exercise. You will not get results that way. Think about it, if any of these crazy diets worked, why does the obesity in America continue to rise? In this country alone, 65% of the population is overweight.

With all the scam diets out there today, a person will probably see at least three a day. You can see them on TV, in magazines, on the internet and even on the radio. When someone sees one of these ads and is eager to lose weight fast. These ads appeal to them. They wonder if the diet they see will work for them which leads to other questions. Some people will stop at nothing to make themselves loose weight. Everyone is looking for the fastest and easiest way to do so. That is why these ad scams work so well. Of course you are going to want to know more about a diet that tells you that you can loose weight in less than 5 days or a weight loss plan that tells you you can eat whatever you want. That is definitely appealing to someone desperate. So the person will find out more and most likely do the diet or buy whatever they need to start it. It won’t be long before they will realize that the diet is not working for them. But this wont be the end, the person will more than likely just try a different scam off of an infomercial or someplace else. This can go on for years. Also, many of these diets are not even good for your body. If it was true that you could loose 10 pounds in a week then you are putting your heart at risk.

People need to realize that loosing weight isn’t easy. Nor can it be made easy with any special diet. To loose weight successfully you will have to change your routine and lifestyle. You must find an exercising program you can keep up with and most importantly you need to stick to it. You may think that trying to loose weight using an exercise program and strict eating habits will take a long time to achieve your goals. If that’s what you are thinking, stop and think about all the time, effort and money you put into trying to make those diet scams work.

Exercising to loose weight is dramatically effective over time. The diet scams you see everywhere are not effective. The next time you fall victim to being convinced that a certain diet you saw on TV will work, just remember it will not be effective and nine times out of ten you will not get the results exercising will give you.
